Tyrone Hayman

Tyrone Hayman died after being stabbed at his flat in Bedminster, Bristol on 14 December 2019.

A 14-year-old youth was tried for his murder but acquitted after saying that Tyrone Hayman impaled himself on the knife after approaching him. He admitted having hold of the kitchen knife at the time that Tyrone Hayman was stabbed with, but said that Tyrone Hayman accidently impaled himself on the knife and that he had not intended to hurt him.

It was said that they had had a petty row over a phone charger at the time and that the youth had taken the knife and stabbed Tyrone Hayman in the side.

He said that they had both been at Tyrone Hayman's flat and that Tyrone Hayman had unplugged his phone that had been charging and then threw it on the floor and that he then took Tyrone Hayman's phone and put it under the sofa.

He said, 'I picked up the knife and said to him 'Oi, come here', He looked up and giggled like 'what?', The knife was in my right hand. He rushed towards me'.

He said that Tyrone Hayman then backed away and that he saw blood on his clothes and that he then ran out to get help.

He said that Tyrone Hayman then came out of his flat and went into Mansfield Street where members of the public then called for an ambulance. He was then taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary where he died three hours later. His mother was by his side when he died.

He had a single stab wound to the heart. He had been stabbed at about 1.30pm.

The youth denied having stabbed Tyrone Hayman in anger or to hurt him and it is unclear whether the jury believed his story or felt that there was not enough evidence to show what had happened or something else.
